Residential Metal

Standing seam, done with restraint

Whether it's a copper-look porch roof over the entry or a full standing seam covering the house, metal is the detail that makes a New England home look finished — and the last roof many of our clients ever buy.

Applications

Accents, or the whole roof

Architectural accents

Front porches, bay windows, dormer caps and entry overhangs. The highest-impact upgrade per dollar on a shingle home — and low-slope porches drain better under metal anyway.

Full standing seam roofs

Concealed clip panels across the entire home, rated to 150 mph for shoreline exposure, with a service life that outlasts three asphalt roofs.

Mixed-material design

Metal on the lower shed and porch roofs, architectural shingle on the main field — a classic New England pairing that controls cost.

Ownership

What metal actually costs you

A standing seam roof runs roughly two to three times an architectural shingle roof up front. Over a fifty-year horizon it is usually the cheaper roof, because the shingle roof gets bought twice in that window.

It also sheds snow and ice rather than holding it, which matters on the north elevation of a Connecticut home with a history of ice dams — with snow guards above doorways and walkways so the release is controlled.

Many insurers discount for impact and wind-rated metal. We provide the product documentation you'll need to ask.

Lifetime durability

50+ year panel service life with no granule loss and no shingle blow-off.

Snow guards

Clamp-on retention above entries, walkways and driveways.

Quiet in rain

Installed over solid deck and underlayment, not open purlins like a barn.

Resale

A permanent roof on the listing sheet, with the warranty transferable.
