Flashing kits
Matched to your roof covering, installed to manufacturer detail.
Specialty Services · Daylighting
Velux replacement, solar-powered fresh air units and sun tunnels — flashed into the roof system as one assembly, not screwed on afterwards and sealed with caulk.

Daylighting
Up to 10x the daylight of a same-size wall window
Low-profile units with factory flashing kits matched to your shingle type. The standard upgrade when an old bubble skylight fails, and the one that finally stops the staining.
Daylight plus passive ventilation on a solar motor
Opens on a solar-charged motor with a rain sensor that closes it automatically. No wiring, no switch to run — and in a kitchen or bath it clears humidity that would otherwise sit in the roof.
Roughly equal to three 60W bulbs at midday
A reflective tube that brings daylight into hallways, bathrooms and closets where a full skylight won't fit. Installed in a few hours, no framing changes.
Solar-powered venting skylights, solar blinds and the installation labor are currently eligible for a 30% federal residential clean energy credit. We provide the manufacturer certification statement and an itemized invoice with your closeout package so your accountant has what they need. We are roofers, not tax advisors — confirm eligibility for your situation with them.
Detailing
1. Ice & water underlayment
Self-adhered membrane lapped up the curb before anything else goes on. This, not sealant, is the waterproofing.
2. Sill flashing
Diverts water from the downslope side out on top of the shingle course below.
3. Step flashing & soakers
One piece per shingle course up each side, woven in as the roof goes on — never slid in afterwards.
4. Head flashing & cladding
Upslope apron shingled over, then factory cladding clipped on to lock the assembly closed.
If you see caulk, it already failed
A correctly flashed skylight needs no sealant at the perimeter. A bead of caulk is a repair attempt on flashing that was never installed to the manufacturer detail — which is also what voids the unit warranty.
Diagnosis
A skylight almost never leaks through the glass. It leaks at the flashing, at the seal between the sash and the frame, or at the ice & water shield beneath the curb — usually because the unit was installed without a manufacturer flashing kit or was left in place through a re-roof.
If the unit is more than 20 years old and the roof is being replaced, replacing the skylight at the same time costs a fraction of doing it separately later.

Solar blinds and remote controls fitted with the unit.
Drips only on cold mornings usually mean humidity, not water ingress. We check before we quote anything.
Rotten curbs get rebuilt and re-flashed, not shimmed and sealed.
